1. Eligibility

The Green Certification program is open to all buildings and projects (except healthcare) located in Tamil Nadu that meet the minimum eligibility criteria as outlined by the Tamil Nadu Green Lifestyle Certification for Buildings (Pilot Version) rating system.

The project must an existing building in operation for a minimum of 12 months to apply for certification.

Certification is available for all building typologies (except healthcare) as listed in the Tamil Nadu Green Lifestyle Certification for Buildings (Pilot Version) rating system.

2. Documentation Upload & Information Gathering

Required Documents:

Applicants must submit the required supporting documents (as applicable) during the certification process, including building plans and project details, energy efficiency analysis and reports, water conservation strategies and reports, material selection and sustainability documentation, waste management and recycling plans, indoor air quality measures, transportation infrastructure details, including provisions for electric vehicle charging stations or bicycle storage, etc.

Format of Documents:

All documents must be uploaded in acceptable formats (PDF, DOCX, JPG, PNG, etc.) as specified during the application process.

Accuracy of Information:

By clicking on I agree, you confirm that all information and documentation submitted is accurate and true to the best of your knowledge. Any false information may lead to rejection or revocation of certification.

By submitting your application and documentation for the certification, you acknowledge and agree that the information provided may be used for various legal and regulatory purposes, including but not limited to:

  • Compliance Verification that your project adheres to local, state, and national environmental laws, building codes, and sustainability standards as mandated by authorities in Tamil Nadu or other governing bodies.
  • Regulatory Review by government certifying authorities to confirm compliance with environmental impact assessments, safety standards, and other legal frameworks.
  • Auditing and Inspection by relevant authorities to verify the claims made in your certification application, ensuring no violations of laws or regulations.
  • Dispute Resolution in case of any disputes related to the certification process, false claims, or non-compliance, the submitted documentation may be used as evidence in legal proceedings or arbitration.
  • Legal Enforcement if any misrepresentation, non-compliance, or violation of the applicable laws is detected, the information may be used in legal actions taken by the certifying body, governmental agencies, or any other party involved in enforcing legal obligations.
  • To ensure transparency and accountability in the green certification process, your data may be shared with relevant legal or regulatory entities to support public record-keeping or verify the authenticity of your certification.

3. Certification Process

Once your application is submitted with all required documents, TNCCM team will review the application.

The evaluation process will assess your building against criteria such as energy efficiency, water management, sustainability of materials, and indoor air quality.

Project ID:

Upon completion of the payment, the applicant must send an email to tnclimatechangemission@gmail.com from the registered email address. The email should include a screenshot of the payment receipt. Once confirmed, a project ID will be issued for the project.

The email address used for this communication must be the same one used for all future correspondence related to the certification process. Be sure to reference the project ID in the subject line of all future emails.

The TNCCM team may request additional information or clarification regarding your submission.

Upon submission of your application and documentation, the TNCCM (Tamil Nadu Climate Change Mission) team will review the materials and assess your building based on the established green certification criteria, including energy efficiency, water management, sustainability of materials, and indoor air quality. As part of this process, the TNCCM team may find it necessary to request additional information, clarification, or supporting documentation to accurately evaluate your project against the required standards.

Timely Response:

You agree to provide the requested information or clarification within 10-15 business days from the date of the request. This ensures that the evaluation process continues without unnecessary delays.

Consequences of Delay:

If you fail to provide the requested information within the specified time frame, it may lead to your application being marked as "not applicable". This could result in your application being rejected or the certification process being halted, as it is essential to have a complete and accurate submission for a fair evaluation.

In essence, timely provision of the required documents is critical to avoid delays or potential rejection of your certification application. The TNCCM team relies on your cooperation to proceed with the evaluation and award the certification.

4. Fees and Charges

Applicants are required to pay a non-refundable registration fee upon submitting their application for certification. The applicable fee will be communicated to you during the registration process.

Additional fees may apply for on-site inspections, re-certification, or appeals, if applicable. These fees will be clearly stated before proceeding.

5. Certification Outcome

Levels of Certification:

The certification is granted based on a points system and may be awarded at different levels (e.g., Satisfied, Excellent & Outstanding) depending on the total points scored during the evaluation.

Decision:

Certification is awarded at the sole discretion of the certifying body based on the evaluation. We do not guarantee the issuance of a certification or a specific certification level.

Appeals:

If the application is rejected or a lower certification level is awarded, applicants may request a review or appeal by submitting additional supporting documentation or clarifications.

You agree to follow the re-certification process as outlined by the respective certification authority and submit any necessary updates or documentation.

6. Confidentiality

We respect your privacy and will maintain the confidentiality of all sensitive information submitted during the certification process.

The data you submit will only be used for the purpose of evaluation and certification, and we will not share your personal or project details with any third parties without your consent, except as required by law or TNCCM certification team.

7. Compliance with Laws

You agree to comply with all applicable local, state, and national laws, regulations, and building codes in Tamil Nadu during the certification process and throughout the lifespan of the building.

It is your responsibility to ensure that your building complies with the environmental and sustainability standards set forth by the certifying bodies and relevant governmental agencies.

8. Limitation of Liability

By applying for certification, you acknowledge and agree that we are not liable for any damages, losses, or costs incurred due to delays, changes in certification status, or the rejection of the application.

We are not responsible for any inaccuracies in the certification evaluation process or any subsequent actions taken by the certifying body.

9. Certification Mark Usage

Once certified, you are authorized to use the relevant green certification logos or marks on your building or project site in accordance with the terms provided by the certifying body.

The use of the certification mark is strictly limited to the building or project that was granted certification. Misuse of the certification mark may result in revocation of certification.

10. Amendments

We reserve the right to amend or update these Terms and Conditions at any time. Any changes will be posted on this page, and the updated version will be effective immediately upon posting.

11. Dispute Resolution

In case of any disputes regarding the certification process, these terms, or the certification outcome, the matter shall be resolved through arbitration, and the decision of the appointed arbitration body shall be final.

The jurisdiction for any legal action or dispute related to these terms and conditions shall be Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India.

12. Acceptance of Terms

By submitting an application for Tamil Nadu Green Lifestyle Certification for Buildings, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agree to these Terms and Conditions.
